Coimbatore, India. – September 15, 2008 – Cordys, a Netherlands based Software Company, opened today a new R&D center in Coimbatore. Mr. Jan Baan, founder and CEO of Cordys, was here in the city to inaugurate the new center. Mr. Baan, an entrepreneur and IT visionary for 30 years, was one among the early investors who recognized India’s software development potential and started a development center in Mumbai in the late 80s and later in Hyderabad in the mid 90s. Now, the establishment of a new Cordys R&D Center in Coimbatore displays his belief in the growth potential of the city.
"Cordys is dedicated to its world class engineering team and our entry into Coimbatore is a strategic move to benefit from the substantial pool of engineering talent in this region", said Mr. Baan in his inauguration speech. Students and teachers from several engineering colleges in Coimbatore, including PSG Tech, GCT, CIT, KCT, etc, participated in this launch event and interacted with Mr. Baan.
Cordys plans to host a University Program in the coming months for the Engineering and Management Colleges around its new initiative Cordys Process Factory. Part of the program is to provide students and teachers with a free access to Cordys Process Factory, an On-Demand do-it-yourself application development platform. This will give students a hands-on experience with latest collaborative technologies that are used to develop Business Mashup Applications. The company is planning to announce a World-wide MashApps® Competition during next month, with attractive prize money. Students are invited to take part in this competition by subscribing to Cordys Process Factory and building the most innovative and easy to use business Mashup Application with commercial potential.
